How do I apply to hook up to water and sewer?

Application forms for water and sewer hook ups can be obtained by requesting the forms via mail, email, phone or fax.

How much are the hook up fees for water and sewer?

2007 rates for water and sewer hook ups are as follows:

Water: $3,980 per equivalent residential unit (ERU)
Sewer: $3,315 per equivalent residential unit (ERU)

Both fees are payable at the time a letter of water and/or sewer availability is issued.

What are the base rates and how much water
do I get for the base allotment?

Sewer: $40.00 per month per equivalent residential unit (ERU) paid bi-monthly and billed in arrears.

Domestic: $28.00 per month per ERU paid bi-monthly and billed in arrears. The base water allotment is 700 cubic feet per month per ERU.

I own a summer home and want to have my water and sewer services shut off during the winter months. Do I still have to pay?

The base water and sewer rates are required to be paid on a year round basis whether you use water or not. You may physically have your water turned off to protect your pipes from freezing during winter months, however you will still have to pay the base rate. Base rates are designed to cover the fixed costs of the District and are not a function of water use.

I rent my home out and my rental agreement requires the renter to pay for water and sewer. Can you put the bills in the renter's name?

As a service to our customers, we will provide renters with a copy of the bill. The bill will remain in the owner's name as they remain ultimately responsible. Under irrigation district law, the water and sewer fees are appurtenant to the land and are a lien on the property. Be sure your renters provide you with sufficient deposits so that you can pay the bills if they move out without paying for water and sewer, as you as the owner will be responsible.

What is an irrigation assessment and how much is my irrigation allotment?

The majority of lands in the Lake Chelan Reclamation District have a water right with the District. This water right is appurtenant to the land and requires the payment of an annual irrigation assessment. The base irrigation allotment is three acre-feet of water per acre of land. Most irrigation water is delivered by separate or shared meters on the irrigation system. Some irrigation water is delivered through the domestic system on the same meter as your house meter.

How do I read my irrigation meter to see if I am staying within the system demands?

Water rationing occurs each year around the first of June. At that time water use is typically reduced to 10 gallons per minute per acre. Approximately the first of July use must be reduced to 8 gallons per minute per acre as the system begins to reach capacity. Your flow rate can be measured by observing the flow meter in the turnout. Count the number of revolutions that your register turns in one minute. For meters two inches and smaller, this count equals the number of cubic feet per minute. For three or four inch meters multiply the revolutions by 10 for the number of cubic feet per minute. Six inch meters must be multiplied by 100. Once you have the cubic feet per minute multiply the rate by 7.5. This equals your flow rate in gallons per minute. This rate should be compared to your acres times the appropriate rationing rate. Please call your water use in to the office at 687-3548 to order your water on and off. Give us your name, turnout, the gallons per minute and the expected date you will be done. Your cooperation is appreciated.
